\"\"<\/a>Today was\u00a0busy.\u00a0 There were moments where I sat and cuddled but order and laundry was the name of the game today.\u00a0 Jake hung out on the sofa watching movies and his favorite shows, he’s tired and weak, but he’s glad to be home.\u00a0 He ate 1\/2 of one of those little circle pizzas and most of a Capri\u00a0sun.\u00a0 Oh, and some little\u00a0Nestle\u00a0Crunch candy bars – it is Halloween! And he had a visitor that really brightened his spirits… Mrs. Amos, his teacher stopped by with Halloween goodies from his classmates.\u00a0 He misses them so much and knowing they are thinking of him brings a smile every time.\u00a0 Now, I forgot a little tidbit yesterday so I’ll back up to go forward… yesterday we left the hospital on a pump.\u00a0 When I first learned that this was the plan for our release, terror set in.\u00a0 I’m NOT medical!\u00a0 I will\u00a0now be responsible for flushing his line, changing out his TPN fluids, changing his tubing.\u00a0 Lord, help me!\u00a0 BIG breath prayer\u00a0on that one. But they taught me yesterday and today was my day to do it on my own.\u00a0 A home nurse did come out to oversee my first “nursing experience”, and I did it!\u00a0 Whew!\u00a0 I can do this!\u00a0 We will be OK!\u00a0 Jake’s not sure what to think of this but I’m told he’ll get used to it.\u00a0 As for Halloween… we\u00a0all went\u00a0out together and\u00a0took Jake to a couple of our favorite neighbors as he really wanted to be\u00a0included – then he\u00a0was ready to come home.\u00a0 We held him, he doesn’t have the strength\u00a0to walk far but he wanted to go out.\u00a0 We stood at a good distance and I gently Purell’d\u00a0the few pieces\u00a0of candy in his bucket when we got home.\u00a0 The kid’s were troopers.\u00a0 It wasn’t\u00a0the stash of candy they usually rake in but there is a silent “knowing” that this year is different.\u00a0 It will be different for everything.\u00a0 But we were together!\u00a0 AND, after the kids were in bed, I later found a Special Goblin\u00a0had delivered about 10 POUNDS of candy in cute Halloween bags for each of the kids.\u00a0 Any chance of feeling slighted in the candy\u00a0department just turned in their favor for sure… Thank you, Adriene!!!!!!!!!!!\u00a0 And a\u00a0Happy Hickford Halloween it was!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
