\"J<\/a>Spent the day at TCH\u00a0Clinic yesterday and were blessed to be with friends.\u00a0 The\u00a0day started off really rocky with Jake throwing up most of the way into the med center.\u00a0 We live a good hour away so this made for a very upset little guy.\u00a0 Of all days for me to forget his extra clothes… ugh!\u00a0 Once we got there we were able to get changed with a new shirt from the Candlelighter’s stash and clean him up.\u00a0 He did end up with two sticks – his arm and his port… one for blood work, the other to access for transfusions.\u00a0 It made for a teary morning for Jake and mommy.\u00a0Thankfully, Jake recovered and re-directed better than he has been with the help of Dana, our Child Life Specialist (and the help of her\u00a0iPad and his friend Pearl).\u00a0 And mommy did the same with the company of m\"J<\/a>y friend, Pearl’s mommy, Crissy.\u00a0 It was\u00a0nice to be able to catch up and have a mommy friend\u00a0there to spend the day with.\u00a0 Jake’s counts barely moved since last week\u00a0so it’s unlikely they will jump enough\u00a0to make admission for chemo\u00a0this Thursday,\u00a0and his platelets had dropped which gave him the green light for an afternoon of transfusions.\u00a0\u00a0They are watching his lungs again as they sound “wet” and he’s still harboring that same cough. We’re still in limbo as to how the next couple of weeks will play out with his\u00a0“road map” but hope to have the plan in place this Thursday when we head back in for\u00a0blood work just in case his counts magically sky-\"J<\/a>rocket, and we can be admitted for his 5th round of chemo.\u00a0I included some\u00a0pictures of Jake and Pearl playing and there is\u00a0one where they both tuckered out – it’s the sweetest thing ever!\u00a0 This gives you an idea of a day in the infusion room.\u00a0 Kids playing, sleeping,\u00a0some transfusing, some taking chemo, some of them in the\u00a0sick bay area.\u00a0 It’s a world that I never\u00a0knew existed.\u00a0 Now it’s our\u00a0“couple-a-times-a-week” hang out.\u00a0 Jake\u00a0is\u00a0scheduled for a CT scan on Monday morning\u00a0which will give us an updated\u00a0reading of the size of the mass in his abdomen.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0last scan measured the mass\u00a0as the size of a small grapefruit… here’s to praying for something tiny!\u00a0 This should be a short scan and recently, he’s decided that he likes the “big picture machines”.\u00a0 We had a good weekend at home BUT, as I was\u00a0moving some things around, Jake was zooming around the house on his scooter and hit a mirror that was leaning against the wall.\u00a0\u00a0It was only there\u00a0a couple of minutes… truly!\u00a0 I win “Mom of the Year” for that one… I KNOW BETTER!\u00a0 \u00a0Of all the kids in the house, a\u00a0mirror falls on the one that doesn’t clot normally.\u00a0 Thankfully, and by the grace of God, he wasn’t cut up too badly.\u00a0 It took us a while to get him cleaned up and we were all\u00a0a little freaked out with all the blood\u00a0but he’s OK.\u00a0 His sweet, little, bald head has a few cuts and bruises but it’s just “super hero” bang ups.\u00a0We also went to Daddy’s soccer game on Sun\"J<\/a>day – they won!\u00a0 Jake and I\u00a0sat in the car and watched from a distance, except for a few minutes, and\u00a0it was nice to get out.\u00a0 As you keep Jake in your prayers, please also pray for his\u00a0little friend Pearl.\u00a0 One day, they will be very special friends, sharing a connection, an experience that few others will understand.\u00a0\u00a0Our two special warriors… a very pretty princess and a very\u00a0handsome prince!\u00a0 Who knows, maybe\u00a0one day, far\u00a0away, they’ll go to the royal\u00a0ball\u00a0together!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
