Ready and Waiting

2 new drgsThis will be short as I’m just feeling wiped out. Jake has been moved up near the top of the list for this GD-2 GRAIN Trial. As I understand it, kids are ranked as far as whether they have other courses of treatment available. The study is two-part… one part of the study is the genetically altered cells that will be put back into his body. The other part of the study includes a drug nicknamed the “suicide switch” or “kill switch”, depending on what documentation you read. It is a drug specifically designed to target the cells they put back into Jake and kill them if they go awry. Here’s the dilemma… the kill switch drug is being held hostage by the pharmaceutical company that manufactures it. They won’t release it while they fight over rights. Jake’s platelets aren’t recovering for the chemo they hoped to give interim but they are so close to being ready for the trial since they don’t have to be as high to start it. The lab has been working on his cells and they could be ready by next week to infuse them back into his

body BUT… the trial is now in jeopardy. Jake doesn’t have options… this is it! I’ve heard many times of lives being in jeopardy because of things like this but never have I really understood what this means. Today, I understand. Lives will be lost if this isn’t worked out. A group of kids are ready and waiting, they don’t have much time, their cancers are growing. The trial is ready to begin and there is nothing they can do but wait for legal teams to battle it out. How can our children have such little value? There are no words, all I can do is sit here with head in hands and pray. Please pray with us.

    Praying for him!!
Have you ever considered hydrogen perioxide therapy? It is a “natural” way of helping with cancer. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about. (I’m not selling anything this is what my husband is saving for to do!)

I volunteered at Texas Children’s this summer and had the honor to meet Jake one time. He is so fun and spunky and immediately became one of my favorites. I have been following his story ever since on here, and my heart is breaking for the hardships he and your family are now facing. I pray for him every day and tell everyone I know to lift your family up in prayers. My heart goes out to y’all.

I will pray. Is there anything else we can do? Write letters? Make phone calls? Donations? I would love to come alongside you and advocate for precious Jake.

Father God, we raise Your Holy Name today for all You are doing for Jake and his family. As we read the words of this sweet mother, our hearts break that people are able to hold medicines that are so desperately needed, yet we know You are in control. We turn our eyes to You Father for Your ability to do what needs to be done. We ask that Your Will be done in healing Jake, returning him to a healthy little boy. Thanking You and Praising You. WHat an awesome God we serve. We love You so much.

In tears with you this morning. How those greedy companies can’t get their ‘you know what’ straight and get this figured out already, I don’t know. Do they not understand that children are dying over this?? Sick. Praying, and praying more.

This isn’t right!! People’s hearts have been so hardened and they don’t think of the implications for their selfish ways! To the people who are involved in the legal battle: Release the drugs that can potentially save the children’s life’s!!!!!!! Put your pride and greed aside and do what’s right; give these kids a chance to fight for their precious, innocent lives! I will be praying for all the precious kids!!

Mardon, I am so sorry. I was just wondering this morning why, on a separate note (educationally) our children are at the center of political and greed-filled petty power plays, but in life and death?! My heart BREAKS. I keep thinking of the bible verse, “As the wickedness grows, the love goes cold…” Our family will pray for Jake and all the sweet, precious babies like him!!

Mardon, I’m Denise, I go to West Lake Baptist in Chandler, Tx. with Lynda McQuaid. Our church prays for Jake all the time. I pray and pray. Mardon…I lift you up and Jake and your husband, the siblings and the whole family and friends. I will pray that this drug gets released soon. This is SO terrible that a drug so needed can be held up like that. My prayers are with ya’ll. Love, Denise
